Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ was organized in February 1994 in the name of Fellowship Temple Holy Church at 826 Apple Street by Pastor Herman M. Long, his wife Shirley M. Bozeman Long and Sister Swannie Boone. This was a dilapidated old store that was transformed into a place of worship. Around April of 1996, Pastor Herman Long with the financial support of this son, Steven Long and Miss Swannie Boone, the church was instrumental in purchasing the property at 826 Apple Street, Burlington NC, the name of the church was changed to Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ in May 1997.

Through the hard work of Pastor Herman M. Long, his family and the members of Miracle Temple Church, the church grown from 25 members to over 200 members recorded. This growth is attributed to the church’s Outreach Ministry and several community fish fries. The church had successfully completed several renovation projects to improve the general landscape and was able to purchase three more acres of land behind the church.

In 2000, Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Herman M. Long and the members of the church decide to have the old Miracle Temple structure demolished and have a new structure built, moving the church further back on the property. The new structure will accommodate the needs of the rapidly growing congregation. During this time, the church was also able to purchase much needed new furniture for the main sanctuary, an organ sound system, a church computer. a church bus and van.

After completion of the new church, Miracle Temple Church started many more outreach Ministry programs including feeding the hungry and a Summer Camp program focusing on the low-income residents in the community.

Pastor Long’s leadership skills lead him to Pastor several other churches in the area such as Gospel Tabernacle Gospel Church, Burlington, Thacker’s Memorial United Holy Church, Brown Summit and Fellowship Temple Holy Church, Brown Summit. He was also instrumental in the construction of Thacker’s Memorial United Holy Church and Fellowship Temple Holy Church.

Dr. Reverend Herman Long served as Pastor of Miracle Temple Church for 24 years with his wife and family by his side. The future looks good for Miracle Temple and 2025 will allow for bigger and better things for our church. Please feel free to join us any 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Sunday for Sunday School at 10:00 am, Morning worship at 11:00 am and Bible Study every Tuesday evening from 7:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to join us at any of these services.
